Welcome to the Rio Grande Valley API Twenty Sixth Annual Fishing Tournament

 
 

 
 

This is your invitation to join us for our Twenty-Sixth Annual Fishing Tournament to be held August 13th – 14th, 2010 at The South Padre Island Convention Centre on South Padre Island. Weigh in will be at South Point Marina, but registration and all other activities will be at the Convention Centre.

 
   
  Tournament Rules  
 
   

1

Every person in a boat must be a member of the Rio Grande Valley A .P.I., and have paid entry fee. If your boat breaks down after you have started fishing, You can change boats but DO NOT add another person to your boat. Ie: A guide or any other person that was not on the boat at the start of the day or listed on your Calcutta sheet. NO BOAT RIDERS! Limit 4 People.

Children fishing tournament (FREE-11 years & younger) To be held at The Pier, (Before crossing the bridge going to S.P.I. turn left.) from 8:00AM to 11:00AM, Saturday, August 14th, 2010. Prizes will be awarded. Tetra will be serving lunch for the Children’s Fishing Tournament at the Convention Centre at 11:30AM – 12:30PM. For questions or if you would like to help call Arnold Perez at (956) 607-5673, Karen Smith at (956) 605-1038. Bait and tackle will be furnished. (If you have a pole, PLEASE bring it with you.)

Boats may launch from any sight (Between Port Mansfield & the jetties @ Port Isabel), BUT MUST NOT BEGIN FISHING BEFORE 6:00AM AUGUST 14th, 2010 STARTING TIME. FISHING CAN ONLY BE PORT MANSFIELD’S LAND CUT AND SOUTH TO THE JETTIES @ PORT ISABEL. BAY FISHING ONLY NO SURF FISHING! THIS IS A “BAY” FISHING TOURNAMENT.

WEIGH IN IS 2:00 PM TO 4:30PM SHARP! AT Port Isabel. NO EXCEPTIONS! (You must be in line at 4:30 PM )

ALL Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. rules will be observed. (Bring your tape measure) NO OVERSIZE REDFISH TAGS ALLOWED. 20”- 28” slot limit will be observed. Also, no trout over 25” will be allowed. You will not be disqualified for weighing a trout over 25”, but it cannot be entered in the tournament.Your boat will be disqualified (from all prizes) if you try to weigh in an oversize or undersize fish. Measuring board & scales @ the weigh station will be the official measuring devices. Tape measures on the top of ice chests are not always accurate. A TP&W Game Warden will be present at the weigh in. Limit 4 people per boat.

Lie detector test maybe given to all winners.

7. You may use a professional guide in the tournament, BUT RGV-API MEMBERSHIP AND TOURNAMENT ENTRY FEE MUST BE PAID FOR THE GUIDE. One guide per boat ONLY (i.e.: you are a guide, your friend is a guide, you may NOT fish together!) LIMIT 4 PEOPLE!

8. All fish must be caught on a rod and reel. (i.e.: No gigging or spearing)

DECISIONS OF TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS WILL BE FINAL ON ALL MATTERS CONCERNING FISH OR FISHERMEN.

Each fisherman may only win in one category except for weirdest fish division.

WEIRD OR ODD FISH DIVISION. 1 (ONE) ANY NON GAME FISH.

 
 

ie: Hardhead, Gafftop, Stingray, Black Drum, Shark, Eel, Croker, ect. If you pull it out of the water with a rod & reel and it’s not human. $200.00 prize for the heaviest, weird or odd fish.
